How to transfer heat from liquid in a PSHE

It all starts with understanding heat transfer. Liquid heat transfer from flowing media to the plate surface is the starting point for all plate heat transfer processes.

In the Vahterus Plate & Shell Heat Exchanger (PSHE), liquid can be heated or cooled very effectively. Liquid can be placed either on the shell or plate side of the heat exchanger and the correct plate size and corrugation is selected according to the specific needs of the user.

In liquid heat transfer, it is important to avoid laminar flow and to create turbulent flow patterns. This enhances the heat transfer between the plate surface and the flowing media. The Plate & Shell Heat Exchanger is the perfect and safest choice for liquid heat or cooler applications. Like any plate type heat exchanger, PSHE offers superior heat transfer compared to tube-type heat exchangers.

Vahterus’ fully welded plate heat exchanger is also the safest option for the user, since it eliminates leakages.

Vahterus has thousands of liquid heaters and coolers in operation: in water heating, crude-oil cooling, colour paste to name just a few.

Most common liquid applications:

  • District heating water heaters
  • Oil Coolers
  • Interchangers
  • Subcoolers
  • Product Heaters
  • Product Coolers
