Vahterus PSHE for Refrigeration
Vahterus Plate & Shell Heat Exchangers have many benefits for advanced refrigeration applications such as evaporators, condensers, cascades, desuperheaters and oil coolers. Plate & Shell Heat Exchangers are effective, durable & versatile due to their unique shell construction together with fully welded plates. This also makes them ideal for contractors who need compact size and low refrigerant charge. Vahterus Heat Exchangers are suitable for all refrigerants, especially for natural media such as ammonia and carbon dioxide.

Vahterus introduced a new Steam Generator product line in October 2023
Vahterus has over 30 years' experience with heat-transfer solutions.
In October 2023, we introduced a new Steam Generator product line. It is designed especially for industrial heat pumps users, but any liquid, gaseous or condensing heat source can be used when producing steam with the Vahterus Steam Generator.
We are entering an era when fired boilers for heating and steam generation purposes are being replaced, in many cases by heat pumps, both in households and for industrial use.
Vahterus has delivered steam generators for various applications for years. Heat sources range from process waste heat to power-plant steam. Our long experience of industrial refrigeration and wide knowledge of steam systems allows us to design well-fitting steam-generator solutions that can be used with many types of heat pumps utilising high-temperature and a large pressure range. Vahterus PSHE Multi-Condenser
Vahterus has also developed a type of heat exchanger that combines desuperheating, condensating and subcooling in one single unit.
The Vahterus PSHE Multi-Condenser is a new model of ammonia condenser developed primarily for the growing heat-pump market, but suitable for other condensing applications such as steam condensers.
Vahterus PSHE Multi-Condenser improves the heat pump system COP (Coefficient of performance), desuperheating, condensating and subcooling the ammonia in a single unit, allowing for multiple variations.
The product offers increased safety and a service-free future for the customer. The fully welded plate construction has no gaskets that require service or create possible leakage risk for the surrounding environment.
The installed heat-pump capacity of Vahterus condensers is over 1000MW. Vahterus PSHE Multi-Condenser will make it possible to get even more capacity and higher system COP in the coming years. Please find the product sheet as a PDF below.
Vahterus PSHE Combined - A single-shell solution with an integrated separator
Vahterus Combined is a compact solution available for use with both flooded evaporators and flooded cascades. These Combined solutions integrate the evaporator and separation system within a single vessel, creating a compact solution with low refrigerant charge.
The compact size of Combined creates cost savings both in terms of insulation and piping. Cleaning can be easily and efficiently performed via back flushing and/or chemical cleaning. Constructed from fully welded circular plates housed within a protective shell, Combined ensures safe and durable operation, which is suitable for use with all refrigerants. The Vahterus fully welded construction eliminates the use of gaskets, providing operational benefits, both in terms of cost and safety. Combined can be designed with oversized shell to achieve higher fluctuation volumes.

Vahterus PSHE Combined C
In addition, Vahterus has also developed a second-generation combined evaporator, Combined C, for even more compact refrigeration packages. The model has an ammonia suction connection on the end plate of the shell. The connection size will be matched to the shell size of the unit. Another innovation is the location of the ammonia injection close to the outer shell. The top of the shell is designed so that it will remain free from any connections. This will enable the positioning of other components such as a condenser on top of the evaporator, with only a small space for insulation required between the units.
